Katya

Soon after the war began, hundreds of children from the Odesa region were evacuated to Ossa. I went on my first trip to Ossa in March of 2022:

I just got back from Poland, visiting a few of the orphanages that have been evacuated. The complex I visited is vast. Approximately 750 kids are there, including several orphanages we work with from the Odessa region. We purchased some essentials and 24 computer tablets for the kids’ online schooling.

The little girl in the first picture is Katya. I was giving out candy, and just as I gave out my last piece, Katya was standing in front of me, waiting for some. I told her, “Don’t move.” I ran up to my room, got her a bunch of candy, and brought it back to her. I cannot do anything about the bombs falling in the country next to me, but I can give Katya a piece of candy, buy clothes, shoes, medicine, and school tablets for the kids who need them. Not much, but something. Even a cup of cold water….(Matt 10:42)

Dasha is in the second picture. She came up to us in the cafeteria and said, “Thank you for the sneakers.”
